2025 Engagement Ring Trends: A Glimpse into Ethical and Stylish Choices

In a recent interview, Victoria Rickard, Head of Design at Skydiamond, shared insights into the evolving trends around engagement rings for 2025. The conversation highlighted an increasing preference amongst couples to demonstrate their commitment to each other with sustainable engagement rings. Victoria points out a significant shift towards conscious consumerism in the engagement ring sector. “We have seen a rise in a much more conscious choice for engagement rings – the symbol of everlasting love is also a view to the future you want to create together; a chance to show your values with an ethical choice.” she explains.

Trends in Stones, Metals, and Settings

Victoria highlighted the growing popularity of unconventional coloured stones, such as elegant silver grey diamonds, and modern asymmetrical settings, crafted from recycled metals such as platinum and yellow gold. Ring designs have also become increasingly varied and intricate, featuring styles like wave rings, toi et moi, bezel sets, and one-sided eternity rings. Multi-stone rings still remain highly desirable, such as a round brilliant cut centre stone, with fancy cuts on the shoulders.

Influences from the Past

Despite the increase in innovative designs, historical styles like the Art Deco movement remain popular, offering a nostalgic yet timeless appeal. A great example of this is our Deco 5 Stone 1.32ct Engagement Ring in 18k yellow gold. However, the classic solitaire setting continues to be a popular choice amongst couples, particularly with a preference for gold as the metal of choice.

This shift in preference not only represents personal tastes but also a broader commitment to sustainability and ethical practices in jewellery making. With designers like Victoria Rickard leading the narrative, the future of engagement rings is not just about symbolising love but also about making a positive impact on the world.
