The first measure of a diamond’s quality is its size, measured in carats. A carat weighs one fifth of a gram or 0.2g.

Skydiamonds are graded using AnchorCert’s scale going from D (colourless) to Z (light). Diamond colour is nearly impossible to discern with the naked eye and near colourless stones (G-J) offer superb value.

Handling Your Diamonds

• When handling your jewellery, try to hold the edges of the piece or the metal setting rather than the stone itself.
• It’s advisable to remove jewellery during activities like cleaning, swimming, or gardening.
• Avoid exposing your jewellery to extreme heat or cold, as this can create internal stresses.
• Store your diamond jewellery in a fabric-lined jewellery case or keep it in a box with dividers to prevent pieces from rubbing against each other.

Cleaning Techniques

• Soak the jewellery for 20-30 minutes, then gently brush it with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Rinse under warm running water, and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
• Consider taking your jewellery to a professional at least once a year.
