Introducing Helen Taylor
Helen Taylor is the Founding Director of One Blue Marble, an organisation with an environmental agenda to facilitate change. Her ambassadorships amongst others include the Soil Association, working with Dale Vince and his Green Britain Foundation (which included being the CEO of Forest Green Rovers football club), the Captain Paul Watson Foundation and helps project manage the Ministry of Eco Education and the Young Green Briton Awards.
What was the moment you knew you had to dedicate your time to your cause?
Back in the late 90's I was in Paris watching the most incredible food market unfold on the streets, drawing locals from neighbouring streets who were excited, socialising, buying with pride - there was something different and important about this that started with the produce – another way! I reached out to and joined the Soil Association and proudly embraced the burgeoning growth of organically grown food and I’ve never looked back.
How do you keep motivated when it feels one step forward and two steps back?
I’m a complete optimist! I know, deep down, everything we do makes a difference - from the tiniest thing like connecting people with the same objectives, or working with a team to try and stop whaling – everything matters. I support and work with some incredible people, who make me always feel hopeful and that anything’s possible!
What does a diamond represent to you?
It represents extravagance, awe and wonder. Skydiamonds represent purity, love and a soul-infinity for the planet. They’re the ‘only way’, not just ‘another way’!
What would you say to Mother Nature if you could shout it up to the Sky?
I’d say, ‘thank you’. Nature connects us all – in every way! Nature holds the key to a restful, fulfilling and peaceful planet. I was brought up to respect nature and love it – when you think that way, you care.
Who or What are you currently most encouraged by that will help us deliver a more brilliant tomorrow for people or planet?
I’m encouraged by the many young people who know change is needed and expect it. Future generations already hold us to account for the way the world is - it’s our job to empower them with the confidence, knowledge and intuition to bring about a brilliant tomorrow, for everyone. We need to all show the way, and care for their future and that of the planet.
