Liquid Silver | A lab-grown diamond that defies traditional expectations

Introducing the launch of our trademarked exclusive “Liquid Silver”. A newly created colour never seen before in diamonds. This revolutionary innovation has been confirmed by the Birmingham Assay Office as non-existent in nature, and can only be created through another world-first process from Skydiamond.

Utilising renewable energy, we have developed a post-production process that shifts and fixes the interior of the stone to create a mesmerising silver-black pooling effect. This transformational method not only produces new colours but serves as an alternative to the harmful chemical treatments ordinarily used to alter the colour of lab-grown gems.

Liquid Silver Appearance

This unique characteristic enhances the depth and intensity, allowing rainbow refractions to pop with more brilliance against the dark silvery backdrop than seen with traditional white diamonds.

Kevin Emery, Head of Innovation at Skydiamond

“As part of our mission to continually improve the environmental impact of our process, we worked with another band of like-minded British engineers and have developed a novel, small-scale approach to colour our diamonds. Unlike traditional processes that rely heavily on radiation and chemicals, this uses electron beam technology and operates entirely on renewable electricity. This piece of kit uses a process similar to the cathode ray tube technology once used in old televisions of our childhood. The electron beam subtly alters the internal structure, knocking it about a bit, and is then healed in high temperatures and pressure to secure the alteration. This results in a change in how the diamond reflects light and produces vibrant new colours.”

Madeleine Macey, CEO  at Skydiamond.

“Our goal is to achieve a consistent, repeatable, full spectrum of Fancy Coloured Skydiamonds, solidifying our position at the forefront of sustainable lab-grown diamond innovation and reflecting our commitment to sustainable practices through cutting-edge technology.”

What next when it comes to Skydiamond lab-grown diamonds?

We are continuing to work closely with our innovation partners to refine the precise ‘recipe’ for the mix of gas at the point of stone creation and ‘cooking time’ through the electron beam technology with more colours to reveal in early 2025.
