What is diamond shape?

Diamond shape is the silhouette of your stone. This concept is often referred to as the cut, however, the cut actually refers to the proportions and symmetry of how the stone is cut.

Diamonds can come in all types of shapes. Round is the most common and ‘fancy shaped’ diamonds refer to every other traditional diamond cut.

Diamond shapes

Round Brilliant
Round Brilliant is the most common, and popular, cut. It’s a timeless and simple classic that is very versatile in style. It goes with every type of jewellery. A round diamond typically has around 58 facets which can reflect light, making it exceptionally bright.

Princess
A princess cut is either square or rectangular in shape. This is the most popular fancy cut, a contemporary look with four pointed corners. Princess cuts typically have 50-58 facets and a unique chevron pattern that really catches the light.

Emerald
Emerald shapes give off a more art deco aesthetic. It has rectangular facets which give it a rather glamourous look. Rather than reflecting light outwards like a round cut, it creates a hall of mirrors effect which is very dramatic to behold.

Pear
Pear or teardrop shapes are a standout centrepiece. These stones can look larger than they really are due to their clever way of reflecting light. Plus, the pear shape makes your finger look flatteringly longer and elegant.

Cushion

Similar to the emerald, an Asscher shape showcases depth of light. These square shapes hold between 50-58 facets and appear intriguingly shiny rather than sparkly. These are a very art deco shape with a clear style.

Radiant
